READ TIME: 5 MINUTES
Renaissance man 👋 ,
My question: If something is holding you back in your dropshipping success, what is it?
If you are not making at least $1,000 profit a day from dropshipping, I guarantee you it’s due to one of these six mistakes I see every dropshipper makes.
TODAY, AT A GLANCE
Product selection is 90% of your dropshipping success.
Approach information with common sense.
Expect rewards if you’re willing to work.
Be unemotional and not attached to products.
FOCUSING ON THE WRONG THINGS
Most people like to blame Facebook, the algorithm, and pretty much everything except for the most important thing: product selection.
Product selection is for about 90% accountability of your dropshipping success, so as long as your store is functional and doesn’t look like complete trash, the problem is most likely not your store but your product selection.
You have to understand that winning products will always sell, regardless of everything else you do.
So spend 90% of your valuable time on product selection and 10% of your time on optimizing your store or on things such as learning all the ins & outs of how Facebook ads work.
ANALYSIS PARALYSIS
I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but I see it all the time:
“People being scared of making mistakes.”
Ultimately, that will hold you back from reaching any level of success.
My philosophy in business is to go fast and break things. I love making mistakes because, honestly, it’s the fastest way to learn, so if you’re not sure something will work, always try it out!
LISTENING TO MYTHS
Listening to the myths that float around the industry, things like:
“You have to have product reviews on your product page.”
“You have to advertise with videos.”
“You have to have urgency on your product page.”
“You can not be successful with general stores.”
These things are easily deconstructed when you approach them with common sense.
So, I challenge you the next time you hear something like:
“You have to launch your ads at 00:01 precisely.”
Approach it with common sense, and you will realize that most of these things are just rumors with no data to back them up.
At the end of the day, you can always test if you’re unsure.
YOU'RE IN A HURRY
The fourth mistake that every dropshipper makes is that they’re in too much of a hurry. They expect to make money right away but in reality…
Beginners have to to test around 30 to 40 products and sometimes 50 products before they find their first winner.
What happens is that they see a winning product on a spy website, somebody else’s store, and they say, okay, well, this should work for me, too… and it doesn’t, and they get disappointed and think dropshipping is a scam, and it doesn’t work.
But in reality, products that work for one person rarely work for somebody else. It’s just the way it is, and you have to stay consistent in the research and testing process and keep putting products out there until you hit your first winner.
Like anything else in life, you have to stay consistent and work hard for it. If you are willing to work through failures, you can expect to receive the rewards of success.
UNDERESTIMATING THE STRESS
I see this mistake almost every day: People underestimate stress’s impact on their ability to work and produce results in their business.
Stress kills creativity; it strangles the mind and prevents you from coming up with creative marketing angles, good ad copies, and good product titles, so it’s important to learn how to reduce stress levels.
Whether it’s going to the gym, going for a walk, getting fresh air and some sunlight, eating healthy, staying away from junk food, and keeping your mind clear, all of these things can contribute to success in business because they allow your brain to function at optimal levels.
FORCING PRODUCTS TO WORK
Probably the most significant one is that they force products to work. I’ll give you guys a few examples.
The first one is where you’ve seen a product work for someone else, so you run ads on that product, but it doesn’t work. You keep pushing and pushing, forcing this product to work.
But all you are doing is wasting your money instead of listening to the data that says this product won’t make you any money. You can usually tell in the first 1 or 2 days, but people just keep digging the hole deeper.
The second one is where you find yourself a winning product, and then after a few weeks or a few months, that product starts to die. Instead of moving on and being unemotional about it, you are trying to relaunch the product over and over again, burning up all the profits that you made with that winning product.
I’ve seen countless people commit serious debt by making this mistake, so it’s very important to be unemotional and not get attached to any of your products. I don’t care if they’ve made you a million dollars. I don’t care if your best friend made a million dollars.
Do not get attached to it!
